ATR Operations Assistant Manager

Idaho National Laboratory (INL) is seeking an Advanced Test Reactor (ATR) Operations Assistant Manager. This position will rotate among the following three Assistant Manager positions and each position may be occupied for 2-3 years.

As the ATRC/NMIS/Utility Area Operations Assistant Manager, is responsible for day-to-day operational and administrative support and daily coordination of maintenance and operational activities to ensure safe and efficient operation of the Advanced Test Reactor Critical (ATRC) facility/Nuclear Materials Inspection and Storage (NMIS) facility/Utility Area (UA). Uses formal technical education and extensive supervisory/hands-on experience in ATR Reactor operations to supervise various complex assignments in ATRC/NMIS/UA. Oversee and provide technical work direction to the operation and surveillance of the NMIS and the NMIS fuel handling/inspection, of the ATRC during both operating and shutdown periods, and of the Utility Area in support of ATR Operations. Is the primary liaison with facility/area personnel during off-normal hours and provides coverage during performance of high risk evolutions. Interface across organizational lines for the execution of required operations, correcting identified deficiencies, etc.

As the ATR Operations Assistant Manager, incumbent is responsible for day-to-day operational and administrative support and daily coordination of maintenance and operational activities to ensure safe and efficient operation of the ATR plant facilities. Uses formal technical education and extensive supervisory/hands-on experience in ATR reactor operations to manage various complex assignments in ATR Operations. Provides technical work direction to the Shift Supervisors and oversight of reactor plant systems operation. Review day-to-day plant status to ensure adequacy of operational readiness adherence to safety and environmental controls, conduct of operations, compliance with policies and procedures, and operations per test sponsor objectives. Is primary liaison with shift crews during off-normal hours and oversees system owner job functions for assigned reactor and plant support systems. Provide work direction to the ATR Chemistry Coordinator and serve as line management to the shift operating crews and shift supervisors in matters concerning personnel, performance, crew assigned duties and responsibilities, and training.

As the ATR Operations Facility Support Assistant Manager, uses formal technical education and supervisory/hands-on experience in ATR reactor operations to manage various complex assignments in ATR Operations. Ensure operational objectives and requirements are met to ensure ATR Operations facilities are maintained and repaired to support outages and operation. Manage ATR planned maintenance outages, ATR Complex construction, maintenance, radiological controls, environmental, safety and health, and quality functions at the ATR and all support facilities. Manage all activities related to pre-outage preparations and ensure operations related root causes for delays are identified and promptly corrected. Review facilities daily status reports to identify and evaluate the impact of degraded and out-of-service equipment on plant operations, personnel safety, and equipment availability.
