Idaho National Laboratory’s (INL) External Engagement and Communications group in the Technology Deployment department is seeking forward-thinking professionals interested in exploring a career as a Commercialization Manager (Entry Level).
Our team works an on-site 9x80 schedule located at our Idaho Falls EROB facility with every other Friday off!
Responsibilities Include:
This Commercialization Manager plays an important role in supporting deploying INL's innovations and research outcomes to the private sectors. Under close supervision and with well-defined assignments, you will contribute to the efforts to manage and deploy intellectual property to ensure that federally funded R&D results benefit the public.
Responsibilities include:
- Portfolio Support: Assist in managing a portfolio of nuclear and related intellectual property. Assist in identifying deployable technologies that align with our lab-wide and mission strategies.
- IP Protection and Legal Coordination: Work in coordination with Sr. Commercialization Managers and the legal team to protect intellectual property through patents and copyrights.
- Technology Deployment Strategies: Under guidance, develop technology deployment strategies to form strategic partnerships with industry stakeholders.
- Support in Technology Transfer: Contribute to technology transfer initiatives to position our organization as a respected participant in technology commercialization.
- Agreement Management Support: Assist in the management of our organization’s negotiations, adhering to our mission objectives and technology transfer policies.
- Risk Assessment: Learn to identify potential risks associated with technology transfer decisions and understand effective risk mitigation strategies.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Develop stable relationships with internal teams and learn about interactions with external customers and INL management.
- Compliance and Life Cycle Management: Aid in overseeing agreement life cycles, including modifications, compliance, performance, and termination, in adherence to relevant policies and procedures.
- Technology Marketing and Branding: Assist in defining marketing strategies to promote our strategic portfolio of technologies and IP, under the guidance of senior team members.
- Understanding Royalty Funds and Funding Opportunities: Familiarize with the utilization of Technology Deployment royalty funds or DOE funding opportunities to support our objectives.
- This entry-level Commercialization Manager position will follow standard practices and procedures and will work under close supervision. Their primary contacts will be with immediate supervisors, leaders, and other professionals in the group, fostering internal company relationships. The success in this role contributes to the completion of routine tasks and assignments.
Minimum Requirements:
Level 2 Bachelor Degree in a Science, Technology or Legal area and 2 yrs. experience or a Master's Degree in related field.
Level 3: Bachelor Degree in a Science, Technology or Legal area and 5 yrs. experience or a Master's Degree and 2 years of experience.
Due to our need for additional support in managing nuclear science and software technologies, we will have a preference towards candidates with degrees in nuclear, physics, computer science, or other related fields that demonstrate an ability and willingness to learn other technical areas.
This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "Q" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.
Job Information:
The pay range for this position is: Level 2 Salary Grade 440 ($77,628-$159,228) / Level 3 Salary Grade 450 ($93,204 -$191,076). At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.
TDP: This is a testing designated position; you will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and periodic drug testing throughout the term of your employment.
Multi-Level: This is a multi-level posting and you will be placed at the appropriate level dependent on depth and breadth of proven experience and skills.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this classification, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, bend, use hands to handle materials, manipulate tools, keyboard and type, reach with hands and arms, and operate job related equipment. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Sufficient visual acuity and hearing capacity to perform the essential functions and interact with people is required.
