Responsibilities
 
Idaho National Laboratory (INL) is seeking a Procurement Engineer for the Materials and Fuels Complex (MFC). The Procurement Engineer supports the acquisition of equipment and materials and engineered items for facilities and research activities. The procurement engineer functions as a member of a nuclear materials procurement team which includes quality assurance, procurement, and fabrication. In an advisory role to the other members of the Engineering Division, the procurement engineer ensures the appropriate quality assurance requirements are established and addressed in specifications, drawings, and ordering information.
 
Categorizes items by safety category and application. Identifies technical requirements, critical characteristics, and acceptance methods for nuclear items and materials.  Evaluates alternate or substitute replacement items for installed equipment. Establishes and verifies expectations for vendors including testing and acceptance requirements and implementation of quality standards. Aids supplier evaluation for inclusion on the INL qualified supplier list. Supports inspection planning and disposition of nonconforming items. Conducts inventory usage analysis and management of critical spares.  Using a working familiarity with Asset Suite, creates and reviews catalog identifications and maintenance requests.
 
Maintains a thorough understanding of laboratory-wide procedures and demonstrates a desire to continually improve approach.  Conducts all work in accordance with applicable laboratory procedures and regulations. Cultivates and upholds a safety-conscious workplace and nuclear safety culture.
 

 
Bachelor's of Science in a relevant engineering discipline and eight years of relevant experience or a Master's of Science degree in a relevant engineering discipline and six years of relevant work experience.
 
Must be a US Citizen and have the ability to obtain and maintain a DOE "L" Clearance.
 

Knowledge of consensus codes and standards relevant to the engineering of nuclear facilities, for example, ANSI, ASME, ASTM, and AWS, and particularly ASME NQA-1.

 

Strong technical communication skills (both oral and written)

Strong organizational skills
