- Advanced degree in engineering or science and a minimum of fifteen years’ experience managing technical portfolios, programs, and/or capital asset projects.
- Twelve years' combined technical experience in engineering design, nuclear fuel fabrication, reactor operations, nuclear research, nuclear facility operations, used fuel management, radioactive waste processing and management, and/or safety analysis.
- Experience with federal funding processes.
- The position requires broad and deep competence in project management techniques applicable to a large, first-of-kind capital asset project within the DOE complex.
- The position requires broad knowledge across most of the nuclear fuel cycle, with emphasis on advanced reactor designs, reactor operations, nuclear and conventional construction, fuel fabrication, nuclear facility operations, used fuel treatment, transportation, and management, waste management, and applied research.
- Detailed knowledge of cost estimating, earned value techniques, risk management, staffing, contracting, and scheduling methods is essential.
- Knowledge of federal budget cycles, laboratory processes, critical decision development, and DOE standard operating procedures are needed.
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy (DOE) Q clearance; therefore, US citizenship is required.
