Minimum Requirements:
- PhD requirements must be completed by commencement of appointment and within the previous 5 years
- Ph.D. in Materials Science, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering, or related and relevant field
- Fluency in the English language and excellent oral and written communication skills
- On-site or hybrid position
- This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "Q" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.
- Applicants are subject to the requirements of DOE O 142.3B, Unclassified Foreign National Access Program.
Preferred Requirements:
- Thermal and mechanical analysis using finite element modeling (preferably with Multiphysics Object-Oriented Simulation Environment software)
- Computational fluid dynamics (Nek5000 or NekRS)
- Computational thermodynamics (ThermoCalc) and metallurgical processing
- Meshing software (Cubit or equivalent) and best practices
- Visualization of scientific data (ParaView or similar)
- Advanced manufacturing/3D printing of metals and ceramics using DLP, DIW, LPBF methods
- Materials characterization analyses and testing (indentation hardness, 3- or 4-point bending), SEM/EDS and EBSD, TEM, X-ray diffraction, tomography
- Experience with synchrotron X-ray experiments and datasets from extended X-ray absorption fine structure, X-ray powder diffraction, tomography
- Materials Project or other materials databases
- Tensorflow, genetic algorithms, Github
- High performance computing, scripting and batch processing
- LINUX, Python programming, Fortran, C++, MATLAB
- An established record of achievement through reports, publications, intellectual property, or presentations
Job Information:
- Salary Grade: $95,004.00 Annually
