Computational Materials Postdoctoral Research Associate

Minimum Requirements: 

• PhD requirements must be completed by commencement of appointment and within the previous 5 years
• Ph.D. in Materials Science, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering, or related and relevant field
• Fluency in the English language and excellent oral and written communication skills
• On-site or hybrid position
• This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "Q" clearance, which requires US Citizenship. 
• Applicants are subject to the requirements of DOE O 142.3B, Unclassified Foreign National Access Program.

Preferred Requirements: 

• Thermal and mechanical analysis using finite element modeling (preferably with Multiphysics Object-Oriented Simulation Environment software)
• Computational fluid dynamics (Nek5000 or NekRS)
• Computational thermodynamics (ThermoCalc) and metallurgical processing
• Meshing software (Cubit or equivalent) and best practices
• Visualization of scientific data (ParaView or similar)
• Advanced manufacturing/3D printing of metals and ceramics using DLP, DIW, LPBF methods
• Materials characterization analyses and testing (indentation hardness, 3- or 4-point bending), SEM/EDS and EBSD, TEM, X-ray diffraction, tomography
• Experience with synchrotron X-ray experiments and datasets from extended X-ray absorption fine structure, X-ray powder diffraction, tomography
• Materials Project or other materials databases
• Tensorflow, genetic algorithms, Github
• High performance computing, scripting and batch processing
• LINUX, Python programming, Fortran, C++, MATLAB
• An established record of achievement through reports, publications, intellectual property, or presentations

Job Information: 

• Salary Grade: $95,004.00 Annually
