Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nuclear Engineering or directly related engineering degree from an ABET-accredited institution and (2) years of related experience or Master’s degree in Nuclear Engineering or closely related field from an ABET-accredited institution.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering or a closely related field from an ABET-accredited institution.

  • Hands-on experience with CFD tools such as STAR-CCM+ and nekRS.

  • Knowledge of high-fidelity simulation methods (LES, DNS).

  • Experience with V&V methodologies and benchmarking of experimental facilities.

  • Familiarity with NEAMS thermal-hydraulic modeling tools.

  • Understanding of natural convection and radiative heat transfer in nuclear systems.

  • Experience with dry cask storage modeling and re-criticality simulations.

  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C++, or FORTRAN for data processing and automation.

  • Familiarity with high-temperature gas-cooled reactors and advanced reactor concepts.

Physical Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this classification, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, bend, and work in an office and field environment, which may include construction sites. The job requires hand/finger dexterity to keyboard or type, handle materials, manipulate tools, and reach with hands and arms. The job requires operation of job-related equipment and driving a vehicle. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Sufficient visual acuity and hearing capacity to perform the essential functions and interact with the public is required. Job Information:

  • The pay range for this position is ($79,344 - $162,732). At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.
