Minimum Requirements: 

  • PhD in Computer Science with an emphasis in Machine Learning, Electrical Engineering, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related disciplines.
  • PhD requirements must be completed by commencement of appointment and within the previous 5 years.
  • Expertise in utilizing Data Science/ML methodologies for detecting and identifying failure modes.
  • Proficient in Machine Learning technologies, with a focus on developing Transfer Learning techniques and Bayesian Design Optimization such as Gaussian Processes and Gaussian Mixture Models. This also includes stochastic gradient descent, activation functions, loss functions, optimizers, and Physics-Informed Neural Networks (PINNs).
  • Proficiency in Python programming.
  • Building history of publishing research articles in respected peer-reviewed journals in the position’s research area.
  • Adept in formulating research plans, designing experiments, data analysis, and the formulation of conclusions and manuscript writing.

Desired Requirements: 

  • Experience working with lithium ion batteries and understanding lithium-ion systems, with relevant published work.
  • Knowledge of diffusion models for degradation modeling

Job Information: 

  • The target salary for this position is $101,196.00 Annually. At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.
  • TDP: This is a testing designated position; you will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and periodic drug testing throughout the term of your employment.
