MFC Instrumentation and Controls Technician Internship Summer 2025

Reporting to the MFC Instrumentation and Controls Supervisor, you will develop finite knowledge related to:
- Calibrate and repair instrumentation and associated equipment.
- Measure levels, pressures, temperatures and flow.
- Install control and measurement instruments on our research equipment and facility infrastructure systems.
- Utilize manuals, reading and interpreting circuit diagrams, blueprints, and schematics.
- Utilize test equipment to troubleshoot and analyze instrumentation related circuits.
- Work with electronic control systems including microprocessors, sensors, and final control elements used in automated processes.
This team works a 4x 10 schedule and works onsite at the Materials and Fuels Complex next Idaho Falls Idaho. Start date and duration of internship vary based on project and student availability. You may be eligible for course credit for this internship if approved by your university.
- 1st year or 2nd year enrolled full time at an accredited college/university studying in the Energy Systems Technology & Education Center (ESTEC) Program.
- A minimum overall 3.0 GPA
- Authorization to work in the U.S. (including CPT and OPT)

Compensation and Benefits:
- Undergraduate Internships ($25.65/hour - $30.70/hour)
- Masters Internships and PhD Internships Pre-Candidacy ($31.75/hour - $34.06/hour)
- PhD Internships Post-Candidacy ($33.75/hour - $36.06/hour)
- Eligible interns are provided paid holiday time off, and many of our internships offer travel reimbursements.
