Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree of Science in Conservation and Natural Resources, Environmental Science, Ecology and Conservation, Wildlife Biology, Biology, Natural Resources Management and Policy or similar degree.
  • Must have a current, valid State of Idaho driver's license.
  • Must be self-motivated and work independently.
  • Position requires exposure to heat and cold while performing field work.
  • Be comfortable in high, precarious places with exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals.
  • Requires extended walking and prolonged standing, squatting, kneeling, crouching, and crawling; close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus quickly.
  • Highly organized and able to balance multiple responsibilities.
  • Able to work as a part of a team and support a variety of ecological projects.
  • Experience leading a team of interns or subcontractors, as well as working independently in remote areas.
  • Experience and familiarity with conducting remote work and backcountry travel.
  • Need to be familiar with electronic data collection and using GPS to navigate to project locations.
  • Familiarity with data management and analysis programs that handle large amounts of data such as Excel, Access, R statistical software, or other commercially available statistical packages.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Maintain knowledge of biological regulatory requirements.
  • Familiarity with NEPA.
  • Vegetation identification skills, especially in sagebrush steppe, are desirable. Experience with sagebrush obligate species.

Salary Grade PR0100: 190 ($70,680 - $116,616)
