Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Network Technician to work in our Spectrum Innovation department. Our team works a 9x80 schedule located out of our REC facility with every other Friday off.

You will install, maintain, modify, test, and repair computer systems, servers, and information networks. Assist with project design, analyze, test, modify, document, and maintain complex network-based systems. Ensure system security is maintained. You will report to the manager for our Spectrum Innovation department.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Design and build, operate and maintain networks.
  • Coordinate, and help deploy new hardware, software, circuits, and fiber paths.
  • Perform testing using specialized optical testing tools and monitoring software’s before start-up, during, and post deployments to ensure the highest quality of work is performed and addresses any issues and concerns that arise in the deployment.
  • Monitor the network using monitoring software’s to ensure that the network is always in a healthy and available state.
  • Provide insight in equipment failures to determine the cause and recommend corrective actions.
  • Use test, measurement, and diagnostic skills/equipment to determine the cause of malfunctions and category of maintenance required.
  • Restore services promptly to minimize downtime and impact on the users.
  • Support the creating and establishment of work standards, methods, and controls for preventative and unscheduled maintenance actions.
  • This position may require regional travel.

    Minimum Requirements: 

    • Level 2: High School Diploma and 2 years of relevant experience.
    • Level 3: High School Diploma and 4 years of relevant experience.
    • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "L" clearance, which requires US Citizenship. 

      Job Information: 

      • The pay range for this position is: Level 2 - min $25.18 - max. $41.54/ Level 3 - $29.46 $48.61. At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.
      • You are required to show a demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working environment.
      • TDP: This is a testing designated position; you will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and periodic drug testing throughout the term of your employment.
      • Multi-Level: This is a multi-level posting and you will be placed at the appropriate level dependent on depth and breadth of proven experience and skills.
