Nuclear Graphite Technical Staff

Minimum Requirements: 

• Level 2: Masters or PhD in Material Science or related field with an emphasis in structural graphite characterization
• Level 3: Masters or PhD in Material Science or related field with an emphasis in structural graphite characterization and at least 2 years of relevant experience
• Proven knowledge and expertise in the characterization of irradiated graphite material utilizing TEM & FIB is required
• Experience in testing of irradiated graphite materials is required
• Experience analyzing and modeling experimental results is required
• Experience in characterization techniques utilizing scanning electron microscopy (SEM), x-ray diffraction (XRD), energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), digital image correlation (DIC), micro X-ray computer tomography (µXCT), and/or other pertinent characterization techniques are desirable
• Experience in conducting high temperature TEM characterization to assess annealing of irradiated graphite would be advantageous
• Prior publications in high impact journals with respect to materials science, characterization and nuclear applications
• Strong asset to our interdisciplinary R&D team and work both independently and as a team member
• Work collaboratively with peers and multi-disciplinary teams

Job Information:

• The pay range for this position is: Level 2 ($75,804.00 - $155,496.00) / Level 3 ($91,008.00 - $186,588.00). At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.
