Responsibilities
 

The INL Nuclear Nonproliferation Division continues to build and grow programs in nuclear nonproliferation and counterproliferation. This national security mission complements the Idaho National Laboratory's (INL's) primary mission of becoming the leading national laboratory in supporting the global expansion of nuclear energy.

 

The Nuclear Nonproliferation Senior Advisor (NSA) serves as a senior strategic advisor to the Nuclear Nonproliferation Division Director and is responsible to build and execute a program of nuclear nonproliferation research, development and deployment in support of the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) Office of Defense Nuclear Nonproliferation and other related customers/stakeholders.

 

The NSA is responsible for building a multi-million dollar RD&D program in nonproliferation and related technologies on an aggressive schedule (approx. 5 years). The NSA will be a senior INL relationship manager with the NNSA Office Defense Nuclear Nonproliferation (NA-20) and will develop and maintain relationships with related offices in the nuclear nonproliferation interagency enterprise (NNSA Office of Counterterrorism and Counterproliferation, Defense Threat Reduction Agency, Homeland Security Domestic Nuclear Detection Office, the U.S. State Department, the International Atomic Energy Agency, etc.). Direct knowledge of the International Atomic Energy Agency's needs, operational processes, and associated U.S. government support programs and policies is essential for success in this position.

 

The NSA is responsible for establishing and maintaining close working relationships with external stakeholders, including the development of INL opportunities for staff rotational assignments. The NSA must establish collaborations with academia, other national laboratories, and industry where necessary to provide the necessary skill sets to support customer-sponsored programs.

 

M.S. in science or engineering plus 15 years of relevant experience.

Established reputation and working relationship with the nuclear nonproliferation interagency community, including experience working directly with the IAEA, NA-20, and knowledge of the nuclear fuel cycle and associated INL infrastructure.

 

Experience in the establishment of collaborative relationships within academia, the national laboratory structure, and industry.

 

Must be a US Citizen and have the ability to obtain and hold a "Q" clearance and TS/SCI access.

 

Willingness to complete US Government polygraph upon request. Capable of effectively working in secured areas, handling and storing and processing classified information, using combination locks, extensive range of passwords and combinations, and various biometric devices.
