Idaho National Laboratory’s (INL) External Engagement and Communication group is seeking professionals interested in exploring a career as an AI Integration Lead. 

Our team works an on-site 9x80 schedule located at our Idaho Falls EROB facility with every other Friday off!

INL’s Technology Deployment office is a forward-thinking group that not only manages innovation, but practices it. Technology Deployment takes INL’s amazing research outcomes and works with the private sector to translate them into actual products and services people use.  As the AI Integration Lead for Technology Transfer, you will drive the design, development, and deployment of AI solutions to transform INL’s technology transfer operations. This role will support the integration of specialized AI tools aimed at streamlining routine tasks, improving operational efficiency, and expanding commercialization efforts. You will also lead the efforts to implement AI-driven processes, enhancing market research, and contributing to INL’s leadership in AI-driven technology transfer. 

You will report to the Director, Technology Deployment 

Responsibilities Include:

  • AI Tool Design & Implementation: Lead efforts in designing, developing, and implementing AI tools to optimize technology transfer workflows, reducing manual hours and increasing productivity. Oversee the continued refinement and fine-tuning of these tools for enhanced performance.
  • AI Social Media & Marketing Strategy: Develop and execute a comprehensive social media strategy to showcase INL’s innovation in technology transfer leveraging AI. Focus on increasing visibility and engagement through consistent posts and content.
  • Task Modernization: Conduct a thorough analysis of the Technology Deployment department's processes, identifying tasks that can be improved with AI, efficiency gains through AI integration, and adoption of other modern tools.
  • Market Research & Commercialization: Develop AI-driven market research capabilities to enhance INL’s ability to commercialize technologies, focusing on identifying potential pathways and ensuring success rates improve through better-informed decisions.
  • AI Driven Technology Listing & Newsletter: Oversee the development of a dynamic technology listing page that meets stakeholder needs. Lead efforts to launch and sustain a high-quality newsletter that communicates INL’s accomplishments and opportunities in technology transfer.
  • Other Strategic Projects: Engage actively with INL’s incubator and foundation to identify collaboration opportunities and foster innovation.
  • Provide recommendations for process improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with project managers and sponsors to develop project scope and vision and clearly identify project collaborators and important project contributors.
  • Conduct peer reviews of the our requirements to ensure that requirement specifications are correctly interpreted.
  • Translate conceptual customer requirements into functional requirements in a clear manner that is comprehensible to project team. Translate our requirements to functional and technical requirements.
  • Prepare implementation plans for incorporation of new requirements into existing processes.
  • Use standard templates to write specifications accurately and concisely.
  • Understand existing enterprise technical capabilities and identify alignment and capability gaps.
  • Create process models, specifications, diagrams, and charts to provide direction to the project team.
  • Develop value stream mapping and contribute to process transformation efforts.
  • Communicate enhancements, and modifications of our requirements through written
  • Documentation to project managers.
  • Assume leadership of special projects.
  • Ensure policies balance compliance and regulations, while ensuring efficient operations.
  • Support bench-marking efforts with other laboratories and entities to verify organization is according to best practices.
  • Perform assessments and other assurance tasks to ensure the purchasing system is compliant with reported policies.
  • Proactively address process improvement efforts and locate areas where automation efforts could improve current processes.
  • You will bridge the gap between IT execution and our needs.

Minimum Requirements: 

Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of relevant experience OR a Master's Degree and 2 years of relevant experience.

This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "L" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.

Job Information: 

  • The pay range for this position is at a level 3-grade 440 ($75,804-$155,496). At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.

  • TDP: This is a testing designated position; you will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and periodic drug testing throughout the term of your employment.
