Responsibilities |
Idaho National Laboratory (INL) is seeking a Control Systems/Cybersecurity Engineer. The Control Systems/Cybersecurity Engineer fills a critical need in helping the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) National Cybersecurity and Communications Integration Center (NCCIC) support the security of the nation’s critical infrastructure. The primary focus of this position is to provide host and network-based analysis in support of incident response and hunt activities within the environments and systems that provide the critical resources/services that our country relies on.
This position will also be responsible for performing preliminary diagnosis to determine the extent of a compromise by advanced threat actors. The successful candidate should understand APT-level tools, tactics, and procedures, and determines mitigation techniques to counter those TTPs. The successful candidate will work other team members, deliver professional advice in cyber security designs, implementation, vulnerability identification, and custom mitigation to both the customer and the larger community impacted by these threats. This position will be responsible for providing advice in cybersecurity designs, implementation, vulnerability identification, mitigation techniques and procedures that will aid industry and the Nation in securing critical infrastructure systems against current and emerging threats.
The ability to interface with asset owners IT and OT representatives along with other key stake holders is also important. Requires the ability to theorize, organize, and participate in the assessment of critical infrastructure/OT systems along with identifying those areas that could significantly impact the ability of the system to function as designed. Must be able to set and implement high standards for safety, security, environmental compliance, and mission delivery while overseeing successful project/program execution. Work is performed consistent with INL’s standards and procedures in identifying and mitigating risk (cost, schedule, and quality) and is executed without appreciable direction. Applicant will also be granted considerable latitude in determining technical objectives for cybersecurity.
The successful candidate must be able to promote an open and informal communication environment with both internal and external stakeholders at all levels in order to develop mutual trust and teamwork. |
PR0300: Baccalaureate & 5 years of relevant experience, or Masters & 3 years of relevant experience, or PhD & 2 years of relevant experience.
PR0400: Baccalaureate & 8 years of relevant experience, or Masters & 6 years of relevant experience, or PhD & 4 years of relevant experience. Preferred degree/training disciplines are: Information Technology, Computer Science/Engineering, Control Systems, MBA, or related field.
Demonstrated knowledge of the computer systems and systems engineering process, with emphasis on customer interfaces; mission and needs assessments; requirements identification and management, including working knowledge of requirements management tools; and alternatives analyses. Must be able to interface effectively with leadership and external customers. When required, must be able to work in a secure work environment to include handling/storing/processing CUI information, and adhere to physical and electronic protection standards.
Travel required up to 50%.
Be able to acquire and maintain Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification.
Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) training and certification preferred.
Must be a US Citizen and have the ability to obtain and maintain a DOE "Q" Clearance and special accesses as required. |
