Responsibilities
 
Idaho National Laboratory (INL) is seeking candidates for an Operations/Utilities Staff Specialist for the Specific Manufacturing Capabilities program.
 
Provide day to day operational support to the Utilities organization by acting as a focal point for procedure development and reviews. Coordinate wastewater operation evolutions and facility outages. Effective written and verbal communication skills are needed for this position.  The candidate will need to interface with other work groups and proactively pursue resolutions to issues that arise when coordinating outages and lockout/tagout efforts.  Must be able to manage multiple tasks and provide technical support when equipment problems warrant investigation. Must be able to qualify as a Utility Operator, Visible Emissions observer, Waste Water Operator and ensure that environmental records are maintained correctly. When needed act as an Area Supervisor for Lockout/Tagout activities and as a Shift Assistant.  Must be knowledgeable of Utility systems and equipment theory and operation.

Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years of relevant experience or a Vocational Certificate and 8+ years of relevant experience, or 10+ years of experience in lieu of a degree.
 
Must be a US Citizen and have the ability to obtain and maintain a DOE “L” Clearance.
 
Must have a good understanding of equipment and good troubleshooting abilities.
 
Must be willing to :
Qualify as a Facility Area Supervisor for Lockout/Tagout
Qualify as a Shift Assistant
Qualify as a Utility Technician
Qualify as a Outage Coordinator
Qualify as a Waste Water Operator
Qualify as a Visible Emissions Observer
Willing to obtain and maintain Rad Worker II qualifications.
 
Selective Service Requirements

Work Conditions: Facility: High noises (>85dB), heights, confined spaces, stairs; Environmental Conditions: Radiation work; Equipment: ladders >6 feet, machine/electrical hazards, power tools, protective clothing, motor vehicle use, typing/keyboard; Personnel Requirements: Rotating shift work, >8 Hrs/day, overtime/irregular hours, working alone.
 
Certification Exam(s):  Nonreactor nuclear facility operator, testing designated position (TDP)
 
Surveillance Exam(s):  Noise (Hearing Conservation Program)
