Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Workforce Development Specialist to work on our National Security Workforce Development Programs team. Our team works a 9x80 schedule located out of our Research Education Campus (REC) in Idaho Falls, ID with every other Friday off.

The National and Homeland Security Directorate seeks a team member to optimize and highlight strategic workforce development efforts, coordinate university engagements, and establish metrics to inform strategic decisions. This role involves managing relationships across the directorate and laboratory, interfacing with Talent Acquisition, Communications, Research Excellence, and other stakeholders. The position emphasizes the development of both internal and externally funded workforce programs and contributes to mission initiatives across the directorate. Additionally, this role may support sponsor-funded workforce development portfolios.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Act as the main contact for Idaho National Laboratory in strategic workforce development activities.
  • Write, develop, and manage strategic plans for workforce development priorities between INL and external partners.
  • Develop creative and appropriate workforce development solutions through collaboration with employers, instructors, and communities, leveraging innovative strategies supporting sustainable impact.
  • Build and maintain relationships. Communicate regularly with industry groups, economic and community organizations, and educational institutions to support workforce development priorities, outreach, and recruitment.
  • Engage with INL staff, management, and external leadership to facilitate smooth engagements for labor sharing, guest speaking, instructing, and overall coordination between the institutions. Ensure INL meets MOU benchmarks as needed.
  • Engage evaluation teams and produce an annual meeting with presentations to impacted teams, as well as assist teams with the summary evaluation report.
  • Facilitate working activities through the Nuclear Contractor Consortium, including marketing and communication campaigns, working on education program alignments, data, and information sharing, provide and share benchmark successes and coordinate multi-entity projects through innovative communication.
  • Create education spaces, sharing platforms, workshops, and other opportunities to connect and share with partners on INL's workforce development priorities.
  • Create visual and written representation of these strategic workforce priorities for both internal and external customers.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Level 1: Bachelor of Arts in Media Studies, BA in Radio, televisions and film, and/or BA in Journalism or strategic communications. Directly related fields may also be considered.
  • Direct experience supporting NNSA, Workforce Development Communications.
  • Experience with organizing and supporting large scale events.
  • Experience with marketing and communications on LinkedIn.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "Q" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.

Ideal Candiate will have:

  • Direct experience in Communications, Media, and Marketing with Department of Energy's National Laboratories.

Job Information:

  • The pay range for this position is $56,196 min - $109,644 max. At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.
  • TDP: This is a testing designated position; you will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and periodic drug testing throughout the term of your employment.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this classification, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, bend, and work in an office environment. The job requires hand/finger dexterity to keyboard or type, handle materials, manipulate tools, and reach with hands and arms. The job requires the operation of office equipment. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. Sufficient visual acuity and hearing capacity to perform the essential functions and interact with people is required.
