Responsibilities
 

Idaho National Laboratory is seeking a Facility Operations/Maintenance Manager.

In this role, you will be responsible for the safe and effective operations and maintenance of the Research and Education Campus (REC) facilities, repair or replacement of plant equipment and systems to ensure maximum operation and service to tenants, while supporting the policies, goals and objectives of the REC Facility Services Division.

Additional duties you will perform include:

- Supervision and direction to those who perform and support REC operations, maintenance planning, scheduling and execution.

- Collaborating with REC operations and maintenance staff to assure facilities, equipment and systems are capable of delivering at expected levels.

- Ensuring operations and maintenance work is performed in such a way as to minimize downtime in a safe, cost effective manner.

- Management of chemical and radiological inventories of assigned facilities.

- Analyzing complex operations and maintenance issues, evaluating alternative solutions, developing sound conclusions and recommending a course of action to resolve issues.

- You will be responsible for infrastructure and equipment including major utility systems such as high pressure boilers, steam lines, water, sewer gas, electrical, NVAC and distribution systems.

- Responsible for daily interactions with outside municipalities (e.g. State of Idaho), suppliers, contractors, and REC management.

- Responsible to support organizational “storefront” for facilities and resources for tenants and programs.

 
 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelors degree in Engineering, Facilities Engineering or related technical discipline plus 7 years, or an Advanced degree plus 5 years of progressive experience in industrial maintenance/facilities operation, maintenance, engineering and prior supervisory experience is required.

Position requires thorough knowledge of methods, processes, tools and equipment to maintain/repair/build machines, tools, fixtures, buildings and grounds and competency in areas of safety, environmental, and radiological compliance including knowledge of associated federal, state, and company regulations.

 

Must be able to obtain and maintain an active DOE "L" clearance.

Demonstrated proficiency in computer applications and business systems such as, Microsoft Office, preventive maintenance and e-mail programs is required.

Candidates must possess a strong bias for action, be self starters with initiative, exceptional communication skills (both written and oral) and the ability to manage competing priorities. 

Proven experience working and communicating with stakeholders, such as staff, engineers, craft supervisors, managers, and regulators.

 

• In-depth knowledge of office building, scientific laboratory, and industrial building maintenance is an asset.

• Experience with repairs and maintenance of facility equipment.

• Must have the ability to work effectively with Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and instruct others on its operation.

• Must qualify as an INL Maintenance Manager and a Facility Complex Manager within one year of job acceptance.

• Communicates regularly with all operations and maintenance personnel, both individually and as a group, to ensure good two-way communication concerning maintenance issues.

You will be exposed to all weather conditions, noise, dusts and odors. Must be able to frequently climb inclined stairways and vertical ladders and must be able to walk to and from job sites.

Must be knowledgeable of disaster planning, emergency preparedness and general facility safety.

Must reside within a one hour commute of assigned facilities due to On-Call considerations.

Urgency and drive are critical to this role.

 

The ideal candidate for this position will have experience working with collective bargaining units and subcontractors to ensure their work is done on time and with accuracy.

Candidates must be knowledgeable on how to fix a variety of equipment, ranging from older to newer, and can successfully do so when instructions are ambiguous or unavailable.
