Minimum Requirements: 

  • Level 4: Bachelor of Science in Nuclear Engineering or directly related engineering field from an ABET-accredited institution and 9 years of relevant experience; or a Master’s of Science in Nuclear Engineering or directly related engineering field from an ABET-accredited institution and 6 years of experience; or a PhD in Nuclear Engineering or directly related engineering field from an ABET-accredited institution and 4 years of relevant experience
  • Level 5: Bachelor of Science in Nuclear Engineering or directly related engineering field from an ABET-accredited institution and 14 years of relevant experience; or a Master’s of Science in Nuclear Engineering or directly related engineering field from an ABET-accredited institution and 8 years of experience; or a PhD in Nuclear Engineering or directly related engineering field from an ABET-accredited institution and 6 years of relevant experience
  • This position is subject to the requirements of DOE O 142.3B, Unclassified Foreign National Access Program. 
  • Recognized expert with broad expertise, unique knowledge, and extensive experience with systems code development.
  • Demonstrated experience with FORTRAN90 or higher and Linux and Windows O/S.
  • Extensive experience in code development
  • Demonstrated project management experience
  • Recognized and well known in the thermal hydraulics community.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Advanced degree in Nuclear Engineering or a directly related engineering field from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • Experience in nuclear fuels and materials, reactor physics, thermal hydraulics, core design, and analysis tools/methods.

Job Information: 

  • The pay range for this position is: Level 4 ($111,888 - $229,284) / Level 5 ($134,121 - $275,136). At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials. 
  • Multi-Level: This is a multi-level posting and you will be placed at the appropriate level dependent on depth and breadth of proven experience and skills. 

Physical Requirements

  • Frequent standing, walking, sitting, stooping, kneeling, and bending.
  • Hand/finger dexterity for keyboarding and tool manipulation.
  • Occasional lifting/moving up to 25 pounds.
  • Sufficient visual and hearing capacity for essential functions and public interaction.
